About Us

Farm on the River is a first-generation family farm located in a private fertile valley along the Connecticut River in Springfield, Vermont.  We grow the highest quality, USDA-Certified Organic produce for local Wholesale Markets and for our our authentic farm share Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.

Founded in 1994 by Matthew Kurek and Maggie Wood, our farm was one of the very first Certified Organic farms on Long Island, New York.  We relocated to Vermont in 2016 and worked with the Vermont Land Trust to preserve the rich agricultural heritage of the area by placing a conservation easement on the property. This ensures the the farm will remain in agriculture for perpetuity. We believe in growing food to feed our community today while building and nourishing the soil for future generations.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that we are on Abenaki land; One of the earliest known farm sites along the Connecticut River. Archeological evidence of this activity has been documented on the property.
